Sadly, 209radio, Cambridge's magnificent community radio station, is closing down.
In their own words, "It is with deep sadness that we inform our listeners and supporters that 209radio will close at the end of February.
We've had nearly seven years of learning, music, laughter and tears, broadcasting on the web, from venues and on your FM dial.
With what resources we've been able to use in an increasingly tough environment, we're confident that we've enriched the Cambridge airwaves with new programming and touched the lives of many with that content.
On the shop floor, we have helped individuals and groups grow and achieve great things.
But the time isn't right, just now, for sustainable Community Radio in Cambridge."
The final day of broadcasting will be Saturday, 27 February. The special programmes include a final broadcast for our favourite show, Headstand (7-9 in the evening).
Moving Tone salutes 209radio for its enormous contribution to music and community life in Cambridge. We wish everyone who contributed the best of luck in their future ventures.
