Event details: Phil is one of the hottest names on the London jazz scene. He has played at Ronnie Scott’s club in London many times with Trudy Kerr, with whom he has recorded two albums. He has also performed with top British players such as Jim Mullen, Stan Sulzman and Steve Waterman . Phil has his own piano trio which perform at the top London venues regularly. Doors open at 8.15pm and the band will play from 9 - 11pm.

John is an extremely fine trumpeter and composer whose career to date has seen him in the company of everyone from Jamie Cullum to the Super Furry Animals by way of Shirley Bassey! John began his formidable trumpet career with the National Youth Orchestra. However, John began to see the light. A career in jazz, with the accompanying promise of unfeasibly high earnings potential and fame, beckoned. Having won ‘Outstanding Musician’ award during a three year stint at Berklee College of Music in Boston, John returned to the UK and has since made a name for himself as an extremely talented performer and producer. Doors open at 8.15pm and the band will play from 9 - 11pm

Marius brings Golden Xplosion to the Spin as part of a UK tour and his group features some equally stellar names from UK and Scandinavia – Danish bassist Jasper Høiby, Swedish drummer Anton Eger and the British pianist Ivo Neame make this really special quartet. Doors open at 8.15pm and the band will be playing from 9-11pm. Twenty-five-year-old saxophonist Marius Neset is a marvel. Snorkel

Event details: Sub-aquatic explorations of dub, jazz, afro-beat, krautrock and electronica. This London based collective is propelled by drums with guitar, trombone, synths, vocals and various samplers / electronics. Using psychedelic repetition and intense polyrhythmic grooves, they create unruly music with an infectious beat.

Event details: Just probably Switzerland’s finest guitarist, Nic is a phenomenal player; his trademark sound, a mixture of Metheny-esque jazz, and spicy Turkish and world music rhythms is thoroughly unique and quite mesmerising. Meier’s music is rooted in his love of playing jazz on acoustic guitar, especially his Godin nylon string guitar. It’s a sound that lends itself especially to flamenco and middle-eastern music and it’s all these influences and more that Meier has so brilliantly fused together in his music. He also plays fretless acoustic guitar, which sounds something like a cross between an acoustic guitar and the oud (an Arabic stringed instrument) and the Saz, a traditional Turkish instrument.

Event details: Expect saxophonic fireworks from one of the great, and without doubt, one of the most recorded of British saxophonists. Snake has always managed to combine technical flair with r’n’b passion and stands comparison with the great soul/jazz artists such as David Sanborn, Grover Washington and Wilton Felder (The Jazz Crusaders). His blues inflected sound has earned him those high profile gigs with the likes of Ray Charles, Tina Turner, Soul II Soul, Chaka Khan and of course Motorhead. You will have also heard him on recordings with Cher, M People and Paul McCartney and if you like going to the cinema, you may well have heard his playing on scores of scores eg Sting, Richard Niles, Dave Stewart etc etc.

Should we all get together and celebrate the last Just Jazz of 2011 in style?

Well Just Jazz is hosting an interactive social gathering to celebrate a great year of Just Jazz at La Raza and what better way to this, than to have a open Jam Session.

All afro/jazz, latin/jazz, funk and soul lovers are welcome from pro's to armatures. Come join in the fun and play, sing, dance or just listen. It's time to get involved so bring do...wn an instrument (percussion, guitar, bass, trumpet, sax, trombone, triangle, tambourine, music charts and get in free!
